McKenzi Ferguson

Johnson City, TN

McKenzi Ferguson is a Erwin native who graduated from Daniel Boone High School. McKenzi made school history as the second team to make it to the state tournament and the first team to finish in 2nd place. She started her collegiate career at Chattanooga State Community College where she made a national appearance in St. George, Utah. After transferring, she was an all-conference and 3 year starting pitcher (2015-2018) for Division II Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina. She finished her career with an overall of 472 strikeouts, the most in school history for Division II.

In 2021 after obtaining her masters degree in school counseling she stepped back into coaching at Daniel Boone High School. As an assistant coach she works mainly with the pitching staff. During her first year back the team brought back a second runner-up completion at the state level. She has been around pitching for a long time and is now wanting to help shape the next generation of great high school and college softball pitchers with fluid mechanics and a good mindset.

Why did McKenzi choose to work with Tincher Pitching? Here is her answer:
I have always had a passion for softball, especially pitching, and I want to be able to successfully share that passion with the younger generations. The development of young athletes with a healthy pitching style is something that I strive to achieve for all my pitchers. I have seen a lot of great athletes lose progress from injury and I wanted a system that would help prevent injuries and promote healthy mechanics.

I grew up working with Tincher Pitching as an athlete and when I started to get back into pitching lessons I knew I needed a community to learn and share with. Tincher Pitching provided me with the community I was after and has taught me a lot of new skills and development systems that will help me improve not only my coaching but the athletes I work with. I also knew that I wanted to join Tincher Pitching because they push me to be better for my athletes. Pitching is ever changing and I know that with the research and overall knowledge of the staff in Tincher Pitching we will continue to be able to educate ourselves on what is best for the athlete.

Here is what Denny Tincher says about Mckenzi.  When she asked about joining us, I could not say YES fast enough.  I knew her as a kid, not only as a student but even as a competitor on the field.  I got to know her family.  I watched her grow and learn as a student and was confident that she would do the same as an Instructor.  I was absolutely, totally correct!
