Jaime Kylis Higginbotham joins Tincher Pitching from Mount Olive, NC. A successful Division II college coach of 12 years at the University of Mount Olive (formally known as Mount Olive College), she guided the Trojans to two trips to the NCAA tournament (first time in history) after only winning 7 games in her first season. Kylis oversaw and handled all aspects of the softball program from strength and conditioning, recruiting, academics and player development. After rebuilding the softball program, including facilities, she stepped down spend more time with her family (has two young daughters) and to teach full time at UMO in the Exercise Science program, in which she helped build in 2002. Her husband Joey, is the Men’s Head Basketball Coach at UMO. Not staying away long, Kylis currently coaches both of her daughters in her local community in both travel ball as well as Middle School. Kylis began her coaching career in Clearwater, FL with the Clearwater Bombers (was a Bomber herself) and Palm Harbor University High School (strength and conditioning) it was then she knew softball is where she belonged.
So, why did Jaime choose Tincher Pitching?
“I like this organization and approach because Tincher pitching just makes sense. From an Exercise Physiology stand point and knowing how the muscles work, I can understand why there are so many Tincher pitchers out there throwing with no pain, these kids are getting massive results from their bodies working in sync, naturally. If I would have studied this when I was a collegiate Head Coach, my pitchers would have thrown this way, hands down. I also appreciate the structure of Tincher Pitching; warm up properly; eat right; hydrate; recover; etc… . I also LOVE the fact that there is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) in Robbie Hubert that the athletes have access to. There are TOO many injuries happening in weight rooms today with these young ladies and we are in tune to that and are attempting to fix it.”
Here is why Denny says they are so excited about Jaime:
Jamie brings her exercise physiology and nutritional background to Tincher Pitching. As an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science, she is currently;
- A Certified Nutrition Specialist professional
- Precision Sports Nutrition Level 1 Certified
- Certified in Reflexive Performance Reset
Having these certifications fits into the mission of Tincher pitching as we develop the athlete as a whole, not just with pitching. Not only does Jamie have a thorough background of fastpitch softball, from both playing and coaching, knowing how to develop an athlete is extremely valuable. Having a knowledge of how the body works, including how to properly train and feed the body will only propel pitchers farther in their career and decrease their risk of injury even more, outside of pitching mechanics.
