Seeing Double

Every week someone asks why we do not make a video. Very simple. Kids need individual attention. Each responds to different words and different drills. Each has different experiences, differing talents, and a very specific body type. A video assumes that all kids start at the same place, same age, same talent, and same experience. We recently had the opportunity to work with identical twins.

I liked these kids and I see pretty strong potential within them. This experience completely affirmed our approach.
When I explained a concept, they nodded their heads in unison. If something was funny, both laughed very much in the same way at the same time. Their facial expressions, body language, and movement patterns were very consistent. I was so anxious to see if they learned in the same way.
As we progressed through various stages, it was clear that each twin had specific strengths. One of them might master a specific drill quickly while the other was better at the next movement. Even as we pitched, one was a bit faster on this day, but their father said it was different the day before.
We always notice similarities among siblings, so it was not surprising to see it in twins. The surprising part was that each learned in different ways and embraced different concepts. This experience reaffirms some things we already knew. Just because a certain tool or drill worked for another pitcher does not mean it is the magic bullet for you. This is one reason we choose to recruit and extensively train the best Instructors in America, helping them learn to identify and develop each kid’s unique, individual strengths.
Each kid is different. Each day is different. As a parent, or pitching instructor, the key is to closely observe and see “what makes her tick”. Build upon that. That explains why our Certified Instructors are producing D1 college pitchers at a rate that is unchallenged across the nation. The more we learn to individualize and capitalize on the strengths of each student, the more success we will see among pitchers across the country.
**Note: If you are a former college pitcher who would like to make a difference in the lives of kids, contact us about our Instructor Development Program. Extensive training, exclusive research, and great support are just part of the things we offer.
